About Larissa Heron

Larissa Heron believes physical therapy is an art backed by science. To this end, her approach is individualized, thorough, and compassionate. She believes that therapeutic goals drive each session and each win is celebrated. Larissa received her BA in Human Biology and Special Honors from Hunter College and graduated summa cum laude. During her undergraduate career, Larissa interned at Burke’s Medical Research Institute and performed benchside research in spinal cord injury. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at Hunter College and received a Hunter College Scholarship & Welfare Graduate award. During her graduate education, Larissa was involved in a three year research study investigating the effects of a barefoot training program on sensation and balance in persons with multiple sclerosis and had the opportunity to present at the International Symposium on Gait & Balance in MS. Her clinical experiences have included outpatient orthopedics, acute bedside, and spinal cord injury rehab.

Beyond her academic interests, Larissa enjoys her CrossFit WOD, swimming, paddleboarding, and SCUBA diving. Larissa is also passionate about mentoring NYC youth and has served as a Ready for Healthcare Initiative Mentor for high school students interested in the health professions. She holds memberships in the American Physical Therapy Association and its New York chapter.
