About Rachel Hey-Shipton

Rachel Hey-Shipton believes in using an integrative approach to physical therapy. She provides individualized treatment plans to optimize movement and help empower each patient to reach their goals. Growing up dancing, her interest in movement and the human body began early on. Originally from Southern California, she graduated cum laude from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo where she majored in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science and a minor in Gerontology. She received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Columbia University, where she graduated with honors and was the recipient of the Marcia Ebert Award for Clinical Excellence. While at Columbia she specialized in orthopedics and took electives in women’s health, integrative therapies, and sports rehabilitation. Rachel has experience treating a variety of conditions, from treating runners at the NYC marathon to being a part of the physiotherapist team for Australia’s national underwater hockey tournament. Her interests include nutrition and cooking healthy as well as traveling. She likes to stay active by working out at the gym or taking classes, doing yoga, playing tennis and running in the park.
