Need Help Staying Focused On Your Fitness Goals?

Need help staying focused on your fitness goals? You’re not alone. Keeping your mind in the game when it comes to fitness can be a daunting task. With not enough time in the day or family priorities arising, it’s easy to make fitness a secondary concern.

Here are some tips to making your fitness and wellbeing a top priority in an otherwise hectic world.

Pick An Activity You Like To Do

The first thing you should do is pick something you like. Whether it’s dancing, swimming, basketball or tai chi, chances are, if you like it, you will most likely want to engage it in on a regular basis and stick to it. Forcing yourself to do a HIIT (high-intensity interval training) routine when you prefer a more low key workout such as hiking is not only counterproductive, it is a recipe for disaster. You want to choose an activity you will stick with and build on your specific goals from there.

Set Realistic Goals

Everyone knows you’re not going to run a marathon tomorrow, but setting little goals for yourself is a winning strategy to get you through anything in life. Setting a goal shouldn’t be as vague as “losing weight.” Goals should be more substantial and realistic. For example, if you would like to take off a few pounds, try committing to exercising 4 days per week for 20 minutes per day. Instead of your weekly burger and fries, trying swapping it for a healthier salad option. By setting realistic and attainable goals, you won’t be deterred to go bigger each week, until you reach your goal.

Schedule Your Workouts

Scheduling your workouts, at least in the beginning, is paramount to building good habits. If it’s not in the calendar, it’s easy to forget about your daily commitment. Telling your friends and family also holds you accountable to the goals while getting the support you need to achieve it.

Start An Exercise Group

You don’t have to do this alone. is a great way to meet others in your area who share your goals and passions. Having a friend to work out with can be priceless because with your workout buddy comes accountability and accountability brings results in the long-term.

Fitness should never be a temporary fixture in your life. It should be an ongoing, lifelong pursuit for a life of health and vitality.
